AREAS OF EMPHASIS
Commercial Real Estate, Land Use and Zoning

David Shaw is a member of Shaw Gussis Fishman Glantz Wolfson & Towbin LLC and concentrates his practice in commercial real estate. Mr. Shaw graduated with a B.A. with Honors in Political Science from the University of Michigan in 1963 and a J.D. with Honors from its Law School in 1966. Mr. Shaw began his practice at Mayer, Brown and Platt, and after several years there chose a more direct involvement with real estate development as Vice President and General Counsel of Kaufman & Broad Homes of Illinois. In 1972, when he returned to legal practice in a law firm setting, Mr. Shaw chose a small firm environment and continued to concentrate his practice in real estate law, including acquisitions, financing, leasing, planned developments, law, land use and zoning, workouts and general commercial representation of real estate clients.

The combination of his law firm and development experience gives Shaw Gussis Fishman Glantz Wolfson & Towbin, LLC particular strength in understanding the real estate business, as well as real estate law and therefore, the ability to offer its client practical, efficient, business-oriented representation. Mr. Shaw has represented numerous institutional and individual clients with respect to projects ranging in scope from 2,000 acre mixed use developments, to small in-fill residential projects and single user commercial facilities. He has also served as real estate counsel to Debtors in Possession and Trustees in Bankruptcy.
