Representing debtors, creditors, committees, trustees, and lenders, John Guzzardo concentrates his practice in corporate reorganization and bankruptcy litigation in both chapter 11 and 7 proceedings. Specifically, he has experience in matters involving:

  • executor contracts
  • debtor-side pre-trial litigation management
  • administration of employee benefit programs

During his tenure at the Skadden law firm, John was engaged extensively in the firm’s representation of an automotive parts supplier in a Chapter 11 proceeding.

While in law school, John was awarded Order of the Coif and was a member of the Chicago-Kent Law Review, the ATLA Trial Advocacy team, and the Honors Scholar Program. In addition, he served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Senior Judge George W. Lindbergh of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.


Having an interest and experience in the area of employee benefits, John authored an article for Employment Law Update on the fair labor standard act entitled The Show Must Go On…Production Assistants, Overtime Pay Exemptions, and the Fair Labor Standards Act §9.


John is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the American Bar Association.
