As a law clerk to the Honorable Jack B. Schmetterer, United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Kimberly had extensive exposure to complex bankruptcy issues and assisted in the preparation of opinions for a variety of chapter 7 and 11 business bankruptcies. Her practice at Shaw Gussis focuses on representing corporate debtors, creditors, and financial institutions in business reorganizations and bankruptcy matters. Her experience includes:

  • Representing corporate debtors throughout the bankruptcy process
  • Preparing and negotiating cash collateral orders for debtor-in-possession financing
  • Representing secured lenders in financing matters
  • Representing debtors and creditors in preference actions

While in law school, Kimberly served as the Business Law Brief Senior Editor. Kimberly co-authored “Revisiting the Indubitable Equivalent Standard: Undoubtedly the same or Close Enough?” published in the Norton Journal of Bankruptcy Law and Practice in June 2011.

Kimberly currently serves on the board of the Chicago Network of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC). Kimberly was also selected as an Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Star for 2011 and 2012. Kimberly is the former vice-chair of the Young Lawyers Bankruptcy Committee of the Chicago Bar Association. She is also a member of the Lawyers Club of Chicago, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Professional Women’s Club of Chicago.
