Recognized by his peers for leadership in his profession, Steven Towbin was named a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy. For more than the past three decades, Steven has represented all parties in connection with complex bankruptcy and reorganization cases, and related litigation. His clients include government and diverse industries, including construction and contracting, electronics, food processing, health care, automotive, general manufacturing, publishing, real estate, retailing, telecommunications, transportation and trucking. His recent experience includes:

  • Representation of the Official Creditors’ Committee of Outboard Marine Corporation involving more than $1.5 billion of debt; and currently represents the chapter 7 trustee of the estate

  • Served as debtor’s counsel to Allied Products Corporation in its chapter 11 proceeding involving more than $100 million

  • Debtor and debtor-in-possession representation of Florsheim Group, Inc. in its chapter 11 reorganization proceeding

  • Representation of Capital Factors, Inc. in its successful appeal of an order authorizing payments to critical vendors in the K-Mart chapter 11 case

  • Retained as co-counsel to the Official Creditors Committee of Kimball Hill, Inc., one of the nations’ largest homebuilders

  • In addition, Steven has been given an AV rating by Martindale Hubbell, has been named an Illinois Super Lawyer by Law & Politics magazine, an Illinois Leading Lawyer by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company and listed in the area of bankruptcy by Chambers USA, a listing of preeminent lawyers in the U.S.

    Steven is a member of the American College of Bankruptcy Fellowship, the Litigation and Business Law Section of the American Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
